Monarchy forever?
Do we have to abolish monarchy or is it necessarry to keep countries (Belgium, Spain,…) and people (Monaco, UK, …) togehter?
A few weeks ago I visited a magnificent exposition in Monte Carlo about Gracia Kelly. What struck me was that even 25 years after her death, nothing is mentioned about it in this very detailled expo. On the road where she had the fatal car accident, nothing is marked either. No remembrance at all. It is as if Princess Grace is still alive.
Last week, there was a row in Spain about the publication of a cartoon on the cover of a magazine in which the crown prince was shown. According to a judge, this was an insult, and the publication was withdrawn. Some people found this censorship. Apparently the main problem was not so much the sexual (under)tone of the cartoon, but the fact that the monarchy was insulted by it.
